I love a weird looking mascara brush. I guess everyone does, that’s why makeup companies are forever bringing out new crazy brushes. False Lash Sculpt is another one of these mad looking brushes, designed to get us reaching for our purses. Here’s what l’Oreal says it does-
Something the blurb above doesn’t mention is that this mascara is fibre enriched, which should mean longer and thicker lashes. The brush is a flexible one sided comb affair. I haven’t seen one like it before. The purpose of the flexible comb is to push in between the base of the eyelashes to create a tightlining effect.
Tightlining is a technique whereby you fill in the spaces between the lashes to make them look thicker. You can use an eyeliner pencil or eyeshadow, or this mascara apparently. It’s a great way to subtly line and define the eyes, but it’s not a technique for those with sensitive and blinky eyes.
How L’Oreal’s False Lash Sculpt Mascara performed
The packaging is pleasingly fat and easy to hold. As I said above the brush is really flexible and has short plastic prongs (is that the right word?).
On first use I was expecting a lot- the reviews have been largely positive. I tried to get the comb into the base of my lashes and it made me blink, a bad start!
After my failed initial attempt, I tidied myself up and gave it another go . My first thought was “clumpy”. I got more joy with it after scraping most of the product off. I also found that using a combing action as opposed to wriggling the brush worked better too.
My lashes are definitely volumised. False lash sculpt added some length too. The volume and definition is so bold, I find that I only need one coat. The sculpting aspect I imagine refers to the mascara’s ability to hold lashes in position. Once the mascara is set, my lashes do feel rigid. The only issue I have is that I do find it sticks my lashes together somewhat, though I know that some people prefer that spiky beaucoup mascara look.
It lasts really well, no flaking or smudging. It’s not supposed to be waterproof, so it does great in this department.
All in all I think I do like False Lash Sculpt, any mascara that lasts the day is alright by me.
False Lash Sculpt Overview
Pros-
Cons-
I like my mascara to really separate and lengthen so this might not be the Mascara of my dreams. However, L’Oreal False Lash Sculpt gives a dramatic and visible effect and the reviews have generally been great. If you’re looking for a new mascara that gives bold volume False Lash Sculpt could well be worth a try.
