The year is about to come to an end and parties are about to begin. So have invitations started coming in? Dusshera party, diwali party, Christmas party, New year party and God knows what other parties we have to continuously hop to. Sometimes you’re the hostess and sometimes the guest. Parties mean food, alcohol and masti all night long. What fun! Isn’t it? All that fun is definitely going to have a backlash! You are tensed that with so much eating and drinking, what if you put on weight in these few days. And you are tensed with a good reason! Thinking to give some parties a miss? No, no, please don’t do that.
We’ll give you all tips that you need to follow while enjoying parties and staying fit at the same time.
We know that you are partying all night long but that shouldn’t be an excuse to avoid exercises. And now you need to exercise also because all the fat and calories that you are savoring through the evenings and nights need to be flushed out to some extent. How will a small bulge in your belly look with a sexy lbd? Yes, you are screaming a no. So to maintain your figure and make people go oo la la, exercise. Ok, why don’t you skip on your regular crunches and sit ups this season? Instead go for a short run at your nearest park or join a yoga and pilates class. Even better join a western dance class. Remember you have to do some jig to music. Exercise comes free with fun.
Parties are filled with awesome and delicious cuisine but that doesn’t mean you’ll stuff yourself to your throat. Before attending any party have some light snacks from home so that your stomach stays full to a certain extent. Mix and match food. You’ll obviously not have only tandooris and kababs and biryanis or all oily foods. If you’ll rotate your eye to another direction you’ll also be able to find lovely and colourful salad. Stack some salad on your plate. We Indians have a fetish for oily foods but salads also make a good combo with kebabs and tandoori.
However if you are diet conscious, leave the diet chart aside this party season and indulge in some oily foods and desserts. It’s not a very good feeling when you see your friend sitting with a plate full of chicken and red meat and you with only some green salad. There is no harm if you taste some. Indulge in your guilty pleasures and join the fun. Just don’t over do it!
Boozing without snacking has a negative impact on your health. You might all know this. But those who are first timers are advised to have snacks in between drinks. Snacks are not only tasty and crunchy but also they will fill up your stomach preventing you from drinking too much. And in snacks instead of having food always try to have some salad or low fat snacks. As it is that alcohol is high in calories and if you have fried snacks too it will only double up your calorie intake.
Drink but draw a line to limit your alcohol intake. If you have just stepped into college and have somehow managed to get your parents ‘yes’ for a party, be careful. It’s your first party. There will be lot of booze, but pick up the right one and drink in moderation. Don’t drink like a fish! Remember drinking pegs after pegs or shots after shots will not impress your girlfriend but you will actually end up bonkers without even the slightest idea of what you had done last night. It may turn out to be more embarrassing when you’ll start puking in the midst of a rocking party.
Here are some suggestions so that it gets easier for you to choose you alcohol:
If you go for shots it is good because shots have less quantity of alcohol than your alcohol + mixer. Instead of mixing your alcohol with soda or coke, choose a fresh fruit juice. You can mix your vodka with apple or lime juice rather than soda. Soda and coke leads to bloating and will make you feel heavy and sick.
Cocktails are also a good option to keep your glass full for a longer time. Taking little sips from your glass through the evening will mean less alcohol and also your friends won’t force you for too many drinks when they will see your glass full. A smart way to keep yourself from drinking too much!
Give breaks between drinking and also drink water in intervals.
Stick to one type of drink through the evening. Avoid mixing drinks.
Don’t be a bore when you are at a party. Sitting with your drink at one corner will not do you any good. Socialize, talk to people, and move around. This way you’ll not only get to meet people but also it will keep you off from drinking and eating too much. Do you know that 20 minutes of dancing will burn almost 200 calories? Get in the groove guys; show them that you too can dance.
Whenever you go partying, take out a few hours and do some real hard-core exercises like cardio and kick-boxing. Avoid weights. Eat something heavy like multi-grain breads with low fat butter or cheese or a bowl of your favorite cereal topped with some fresh fruits. And yes, do not forget to drink at least two glasses of water. Now you are ready to hit the party. Now that your stomach is full, hope you won’t eat like you haven’t been served food for many weeks.
Party at night, hangover next morning; very common, isn’t it? So keep a good stock of lime in your refrigerator. You can’t sit all day long holding your forehead feeling dizzy; you have office to attend too. Take a long cool shower and drink enough of water.
Rest and proper sleep is important between partying otherwise you’ll end up with sore muscles.
Hope these tips help you. Now let the party begin!
