Repairing Scratches on Pfaltzgraff Dinnerware: A Comprehensive Guide

Pfaltzgraff makes several lines of dinnerware products in a wide variety of patterns and colors. The company puts a strong, durable coating on its dinnerware in an effort to avoid scratches that occur with everyday use of the dishware. Despite the extra effort on the part of the company, Pfaltzgraff dinnerware can still receive scratches from cooking and serving utensils rubbing against it or from dishes brushing against each other in the dishwasher. Fortunately, you can remove scratches from Pfaltzgraff dinnerware with baking soda.

  • Mix 1/4 cup baking soda with 1 cup of warm water in a bowl. The mixture should become a thick paste. If not, add a bit more baking soda. If it is so thick it appears like globs instead of a thick pudding mix, add a bit more water.

  • Wet a soft sponge with tap water. Do not use any kind of scrubbie sponge or other kinds of abrasive cleaning materials on your Pfaltzgraff.

  • Dip the damp sponge into the baking soda paste, and rub the scratch marks on your Pfaltzgraff dinnerware with the sponge. Rub the entire length of the scratch. Keep at it until you have completely removed the scratch with the baking soda. Rewet the sponge as needed to keep it moist but not soaking wet.

  • Fill the sink with warm, but not hot, water. Add several squirts of dish washing soap.

  • Wash the Pfaltzgraff dinnerware in the sudsy water with a soft cloth.

  • Set your dinnerware in a dish drainer, and let it drip dry.
