DIY Air Fresheners: Natural & Affordable Home Fragrance

Instead of buying air fresheners from the store, you can make them at home with a few ingredients. Air fresheners keep your home and car smelling fresh. Many air fresheners are expensive at stores, and they often do not last very long. You can make your own air fresheners and fill your home with a pleasant aroma.

Gel Air Fresheners

  • Pour three cups of water into a saucepan.

  • Place the saucepan on the stovetop over high heat.

  • Bring the water to a boil.

  • Add four packages of unflavored gelatin. Stir until the gelatin dissolves.

  • Remove the gelatin from the stovetop. Add one cup of distilled water.

  • Add 10 drops of essential oil. Add food coloring to customize the gel. Stir in one tbsp. of salt to keep the gel from molding.

  • Pour the gel into baby food jars. You can also use other small decorative containers.

  • Allow the gel to become firm. Place it in any room to enjoy the aroma.

Liquid Air Fresheners

  • Pour three cups of water into a saucepan. Place the saucepan over high heat to bring it to a boil.

  • Add a quarter cup of vodka to the water. Reduce the heat to medium-low.

  • Add 10 drops of cinnamon extract. Stir in three to four drops of lavender essential oil.

  • Combine a quarter cup of liquid fabric softener with the ingredients. Stir until everything is well mixed.

  • Pour the air freshener into a jar with a lid. Poke holes in the lid or leave the lid off and place the air freshener in a room to enjoy the fragrance.
