Eliminate Chlorine Smell & Freshen Your Hot Tub Water: A Guide

Keeping your hot tub clean is vital to maintaining its condition and preventing the spread of germs and bacteria. Chlorine-based products are typically used to keep a hot tub clean and sanitary, but these products leave an unpleasant, bleach-like smell. If you want to make your time spent in the hot tub a bit more spa-like, make a more aromatic fragrance to keep your hot tub smelling fresh and appealing.

  • Pour 2 cups of distilled water into a glass bottle. Add 1/4 cup of regular, unflavored vodka.

  • Place 10 drops of chamomile essential oil into the glass bottle. Add five drops of orange essential oil to complement the chamomile.

Chamomile essential oil helps you relax.
  • Close the glass bottle with a tight-fitting lid or cap. Gently shake or swirl the bottle to mix the ingredients.

  • Store the bottle in a dark location where it will not get too warm, such as a pantry or basement. Allow the hot tub fragrance to sit for two weeks before using it.

  • Add 1/4 cup of your homemade hot tub fragrance to the hot tub before using it to create a subtle fragrance. Pour in more fragrance, 1 tablespoon at a time, to intensify the smell.
