K&N cold air filters are direct replacements for stock air filters on cars and various gas-powered appliances. K&N filters boast an improvement in horsepower and gas mileage. The only requirement for the filters is cleaning them on an annual or as-needed basis, which entails soaking the filter in a cleaning solution and rinsing with a low-pressure water faucet. The filter does have to be removed from the vehicle while being cleaned and dried.
Tap the filter lightly against any solid surface to dislodge solid debris and loose dust.
Spray K&N air filter cleaner onto both sides of the air filter. Allow the solution to soak for 10 minutes.
Rinse the filter thoroughly using a low-pressure faucet with room temperature water. Allow the filter to air-dry thoroughly.
Coat both sides of the filter with K&N oil. A light application is more than sufficient. Excessive oil will slow down the air flow. Allow the oil to penetrate and dry out moderately over a period of one hour.
Reinstall the air filter.
