Briggs & Stratton Pressure Washer: Oil Change Guide & Maintenance

Briggs & Stratton's Proseries Model 20330 gas-powered, cold water pressure washer delivers a flow rate of 4.2 gallons per minute at 3,700 p.s.i. Developing more than 75 times the pressure of a typical garden hose, the Model 20330 is suitable for cleaning everything from decks and driveways to siding, garage floors and cars. Briggs & Stratton recommends checking the hydraulic pump oil level before each use and performing a routine oil change after every 500 hours of operation.

Preparing the Washer

  • Place the washer on a level surface and engage the spray gun trigger lock.

  • Start the engine and let it run for at least five minutes.

  • Shut off the engine and turn off the water supply. Point the spray gun in a safe direction and squeeze the spray guy trigger to release water pressure.

Changing the Pump Oil

  • Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug and place a drain pan under the oil drain plug.

  • Use the adjustable wrench to remove the oil filler plug and O-ring from the top of the pump housing and the drain plug from the bottom. Allow pump oil to drain out completely.

  • Replace the drain plug and tighten to 50 lbs-inch torque. Place a funnel in the oil filler and fill with 18 ounces of CAT 6107 Hydraulic Pump oil or an approved equivalent. Replace oil filler cap and O-ring and tighten finger tight. Reconnect the spark plug wire to spark plug.
