Chicago Cutlery® was originally made for professional butchers and meat packing plants in 1930. As the product evolved so did their market. A popular bridal gift, the knives in a Chicago Cutlery® set are guaranteed with regular use to last a lifetime. With such a hardworking tool in your kitchen, you might think that the care and storage needs would be extensive.
Fill a sink with dishwashing detergent and about an inch of warm water.
Gently wash the blade with a soft cloth with the blade facing away from you. Double up the wash rag and cover the blade, running the soapy cloth down the length of it until clean.
Rinse your knife and immediately dry it with a porous cloth or a washed and softened linen cloth. A few drops of olive oil or cooking oil rubbed over the blade and handle and then wiped off will keep it looking spotless.
Store your good knives in a knife block or against a magnetic strip that has been hung on the wall. Do not place them loose in a drawer to rattle around getting banged, or worse, to injure someone who is rooting around for a tool.
Prevent rust stains by getting all signs of food off the blade, washing them by hand and never leaving them laying in water or staying wet.
