GE Profile Double Oven Self-Cleaning: Instructions & Tips

Your GE Profile Double Convection Oven cleans itself, saving you a lot of hard work. During the self-cleaning cycle, the oven door locks and heats up, burning up any food stuck on the oven's surface. This GE oven also offers the option of varying the amount of cleaning time depending on how badly soiled the oven is.

Things You'll Need

  • Damp cloth
  • Remove everything from the oven except the oven racks. Verify that the light bulb is turned off and the light bulb cover is in place so that the light bulb isn't damaged during the self-cleaning cycle.

  • Press the "Self Clean" button on the oven's control pad or touch pad. If your oven's self-clean button is labeled "SELF CLEAN STD/LOW," press this button once to select a four-hour cleaning cycle and twice to select a three-hour cycle. Specify which oven you want cleaned by pressing the "Upper Oven" or "Lower Oven" button. If your oven has buttons labeled "Light Clean" and "Regular Clean," press the "Light Clean" button for a three-hour cleaning cycle and "Regular Clean" for a five-hour cycle. If you want a self-cleaning cycle of a different length, press the "Custom" button if your oven has one, then use the number buttons to indicate a time between three and five hours.

  • Press the "Start" or "Now" button to begin the self-cleaning cycle on the specified oven.

  • Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for the other oven, if you want to clean both ovens. The second oven will begin its self-cleaning cycle when the first oven's cycle is completed.

  • Allow the clean oven to cool until it unlocks the door by itself. Open the oven door and wipe the surfaces with a damp cloth to remove the white powder, including the inside of the oven door.
