The GE Profile line of ranges and ovens offers a self-cleaning feature that enables you to avoid the use of harsh chemicals and labor-intensive scrubbing. Regular use of your GE Profile oven may result in food spills and grease splatters, leaving behind a mess on the oven floor and window. The self-cleaning feature utilizes high heat to burn away any food residue and turn it to ash.
Open any windows and turn on a fan if you have one. The self-cleaning cycle may give off smoke or fumes.
Remove any shiny metal oven racks, pans and aluminum foil from the GE Profile oven.
Wipe away any excess food spills from the oven floor with a damp sponge.
Close the oven door. Press the "Self Clean" button, and select a time between three and five hours.
Press the "Start" button to begin the self-cleaning cycle.
Open the oven door when the cleaning cycle is complete and the GE Profile oven is cool.
Wipe away any ash remnants with a damp sponge, and replace the oven racks.
