The Bissell ProHeat Select 2X is a deep cleaning carpet and upholstery cleaner designed for home use. It's similar to a commercial carpet cleaner in that it applies clean hot water to the carpet and then pulls dirty water back in, but it's smaller and resembles a regular stand-up vacuum cleaner. If you rent a carpet cleaner more than once or twice a year, purchasing a deep cleaner such as the Bissell Proheat Select 2X may be worth the cost.
Assemble the Bissell ProHeat Select 2X by sliding the upper handle piece into the top of the base. Line up the three screw holes and screw into place with the screws provided. Screw the curved upper hose rack piece into place just beneath the handle. Attach the lower hose rack attachment into place by lining up the tab on the handle piece near the base with the slot and snapping in place. Wrap the hose around the hose rack and latch the plastic end in place.
Prepare the room for cleaning by removing the furniture from the carpet. Vacuum the carpet with a regular dry vacuum cleaner.
Remove the water tank, which is located on the bottom front of the unit. Lift the latch on the back of the tank and remove the top. Fill the reservoir in the water tank with hot tap water. Only fill the inner reservoir--the outer tank is for collecting the dirty water. Slide the top in place by lining up the lip on the back with the groove on the bottom of the tank and closing the latch.
Fill the formula tank on the back of the base of the machine by pulling it straight up and out, screwing off the cap and filling with Bissell cleaning formula. Using other brands or types of cleaners will void your Bissell ProHeat warranty. Replace the tank.
Set the dials. For carpet cleaning, set the dial on the water tank to "Floor Cleaning." Set the dial on the handle to heavy traffic, normal or light.
Plug in the Bissell ProHeat Select 2X. Set each heater switch on the handle to the on position. Wait one minute for the machine to warm up. Place the machine in the corner of the room farthest from the door before you start; you will work your way back toward the door to prevent stepping on the wet carpet.
Press the trigger on the handle and move the cleaner in a front-and-back motion. Release the trigger and move the cleaner back and forth over the same area. Repeat on the rest of the carpet, one area at a time.
Turn of the heater and unplug the unit when you're finished. Remove the water tank and empty the dirty water. Don't walk on the rug until the carpet is completely dry, which will take about 12 to 24 hours. If you need to walk on the carpet, place towels over the high-traffic areas until it's dry.
