Consignment for Kids: A Beginner's Guide to Buying & Selling

When it comes to buying and selling gently-used children’s clothing, the price is right to save money and make money at Kid’s Closet Connection consignment sales!

Consignment sale shopping  - – like Kid’s Closet Connection – - is being “discovered” during tough economic times…but the price is always right to buy gently-used children’s items for at least half-off retail costs, and these sales events are also terrific ways to make money on items just sitting in your children’s closets!

If you’re new to the consignment circuit at Kid’s Closet Connection, here are some things to get you started to set the right price and make money on outgrown items in your children’s closets:

What is consigning?

Consignment sales  - – like Kid’s Closet Connection – - sell gently-used children’s items for the people who tag, price their items right, and bring their merchandise to the venue.  People make money only after items sell. Kid’s Closet Connection charges an initial fee for advertising costs – - and after that – - consignors net around 65% of their total sales. The percentage of your take-home can vary, depending on how much you volunteer, so always check with the sale’s owner for details. Before putting the right price on consignment items, know what percentage will be backed out after the event, so to make money, make sure you tag items accordingly.

• Get Started…

We appreciate those who have entrusted Kid’s Closet Connection with the job of selling gently-used items on consignment. Unlike brick-and-mortar buildings, where items can languish for months in consignment stores, Kid’s Closet Connection sales events happen in a number of DAYS – - which means when you price items right, they sell quickly and you make money faster!

• Price Check.

To ensure the price is  right on items, do your homework to  make the most money possible. Items with brand labels sell quickly at Kid’s Closet Connection consignment sales events. Know how much brand name items sell for in new condition and consider marking the item down to at least half-off the retail price. To make the tag with the right price for the Kid’s Closet Connection consignment sale, follow the prompts when logged into your account, type in items for sale and print out bar-coded tags to affix to the items. Then, get ready to make money!

• Back to Community.

After you’ve put the right price on items for the consignment sale, any unsold items can be picked up or donated to a worthy charity. After all a seller’s hard work of preparing items and volunteering at the sale, it’s exciting to make money on items that were just hanging around in your children’s closets.

Like the game show, The Price is Right, consignment sales can be a fun way to make money, you just need to, “Come on down!….”
