QuestionI'm eating about 2 lbs of buffalo meat every other week. Is this ok,as I don't eat beef,or other meats. I know most red meat is bad for you, but not buffalo?
I also eat a large amount of veggies in my regular diet, as well as some beans
thanks
AnswerBuffalo meat is a very lean meat and it does have less saturated fat and cholesterol than red meat. It can fit nicely into a well-balanced diet that includes ALL of the food groups: lean meats, fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grain starches, and low fat or fat free dairy products. So as long as you are eating from ALL of the food groups that is fine. For variety you may want to continue to add beans and other lean meats to your diet such as fish. Fish has healthy fats that meat does NOT.
