Understanding Belly Fat: Causes, Beer & Weight Loss

Question
I am trying to lose some weight.  I'd like to lose about 10-15 pounds.  I have acouple questions in particular for you.  Is it true that beer contributes to a larger mid-section?  Why?  Is there any real benefit in drinking lite beer?

Answer
No, it's not true that a beer gut is only from beer.  Any excess calories contribute to midsection size.  How much is usually genetic and sex dependent.  Women tend to put more weight on their hips, men in their belly.

Lite beer is simply less calories, so less overall impact.  But if you drink 6 lite beers a week versus 4 regular beers, their probably isn't much difference.

Frankly, beer is empty calories: no nutritional value, and therefore if you really want to lose weight, you should drink diet soda or water.  It's also the snacks that go along with beer that can add up.
