Healthy Sugar Intake: A Guide for Preventing Diabetes

Question
I'm currently 26 and in excellent health. I've never been overweight and have always excercised and worked out to stay in shape. I've never had any serious medical problems, thank God.
However, grandmothers on both sides of the family were diabetic, as well as a few relatives here and there on both sides. I'm obviously concerned with the "genetic" implications this might have for me.
What is a healthy amount of sugar intake going to amount to on a daily basis? And would this include natural sweets such as those found in fruits and juices?

Answer
HI Mike,

There was no diabetes before there was refined sugar. There is a world of difference between that white stuff in the bowl, the long named corn product that is listed in almost all packaged food and the good stuff that is in RAW fruit. Cooked fruit is more like refined sugar, and cooked includes pasteurized fruit juice.

There is a long list of ailments linked to refined sugar, from bone loss, brain loss, athletes foot to yeast infections. Added more for the addictive qualities (equal to nicotine and cocaine) more than the flavor.

Eat all the raw fruit and fresh fruit juice you want. Lose all the refined sugar and refined flour. That is not a simple task, but when folks quite buying unhealthy products, other folks will stop making them.
