QuestionI am 5'9. Once down to 95lbs and now close to 115. I feel like now that I've stopped starving myself, I cannot stop eating. Almost at all hours of the day! Then my feelings embrace bulimia. I've heard small meals throughout the day are best, but so much easier said than done. My question is, will my weight eventually plateau or will I return to the weight I was before I began starving myself?
AnswerIt's not at all unusual for us to replace one compulsion (starvation) with another (binge eating). I know this is very difficult for you, but you're still very underweight. You also know you should not "know" your weight! For successful recovery, the scale should be considered one of your biggest enemies. It's a liar. Put a 5 lb hand weight on it and it says there is 5 lbs. Put 5 lbs of feathers on it and it says there is 5 lbs. Obviously, they are not the same 5 lbs in mass. Well, neither is your body. 5 lbs could be muscle, fat (which we NEED a certain amount of) or fluids.
If it's comfortable for you to eat frequently throughout the day, then do so with many smaller meals. If you don't do this well, then eat three squares.
There are no rules really, just that you eat the right things and maintain at least 1,400+ cals per day
