Red vs. White Wine Vinegar: What's the Difference?

Question
Is it wine or is it vinegar? I don't think I'd get any if it was really wine. Suppose I could substitute any other vinegar?

thanks,
joyce

Answer
What an interesting question, and one I had to look up!
It seems that wine is the first phase of the fermenting on the way to becoming vinegar for some types. It doesn't appear to have any alcohol in it, or it would have to say on the label, and you would have to be 21 to buy it :)

Substituting another type will change the flavor in the recipe, but it might not be bad... just different!
