Sleeping Position After Surgery: Stomach Sleep Safety & Pain Management
QuestionIts been almost 3 weeks since surgery ive lost 20lbs so far. is it finally safe to sleep on my stomach now? i cant sleep cause i like to sleep on my belly. it hurts to sleep on my back. cuz i asked another doctor and he said yes. but i woke up yesterday morning and i was in so much pain i couldnt move. i dont know if it was from the surgery or the way i slept.
AnswerHi Bianca:
In general, you should just let your pain be your guide. If it doesn't hurt, then great. If it still hurts you, then wait a few days and try again. A lot of people rent a recliner (Laz-y-boy) after bariaric surgery to sleep in for the first few weeks. It seems to be a lot more oomfortable.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
