QuestionI am wanting to take a blend of 14 kt jewelery, yellow dental gold crowns, and a bit of 10 kt gold, combine and cast into a gold ring.
What will I need to do to get the dental gold to blend with the other kt gold or will it simply melt/merge in the smelt?
Should I use a particular type of crucible for this purpose?
AnswerHi Robert,
Thank you for your question, it is not necessary to use a new crucible, dental gold has the same alloy as regular 14k yellow gold.
before you cast you should clean the gold by melting it together with the 10k gold,
1- Prepare a good size bucket filed with water
2- Pour the molted gold in the water as if you were pouring water in the water
3- This process will create shoots out the gold and will clean/mix the metal for casting
4- Place the gold on top of paper towel and dry it...........gold ready to use for casting.
Hope it helps,
