First Trimester Weight Loss: Is It a Concern?

Question
My partner has lost weight rather than gained weight during the first trimester due to being ill and having a loss in appetite. At 13 weeks she is 6lbs lighter than at week 6. I prepare her meals for her mostly but she is often unable to eat much and it shows on the scales. She has lost as much as she should have gained. My partner is 18, 5'3'' and only 7 stone. I am concerned that she is not taking this loss of weight seriously and she is not due to see anybody about it for another two weeks though i tried to get her to book an appointment straight away. Should we be concerned or will things pick up soon.

Thanks,

Lee

Answer
Losing weight in the early months is not that uncommon.  I am not familar with stone, so I am not sure of her weight as far as if she is overweight, under or just about right.
I doubt it is much to worry about, she will start to get hungry as the pregnacy progresses.  Make sure she is taking her vitamins and drinking plenty of fluids.
Good luck and Congrats!
