QuestionDuring my first iui yesterday, the midwife had difficulty inserting the catheter through my cervix, which she said was on an angle. She tried 3-4 times before getting help from a more experienced midwife, who was able to complete the iui on her first attempt. Since then, I've had a bit of bleeding, but no pain. My question is this: will the difficulty of this iui affect the chances of success? If so, do you have any suggestions for future attempts?
AnswerHello Susan,
Unfortunately, if the nurses caused bleeding within the uterine cavity, that blood is toxic to the sperm.
I find it very unfortunate that you are being care for by nurses instead of an experienced Physician. I would never allow that. I think that in the next cycle, I would recommend that you ask for the Physician, not a nurse.
