QuestionDear Dr. Edward,
its always nice to write to you, because you are the first doctor i have seen who make me understand what the problem that I am facing, thanks for it.
I just have some doubt that If I have a cyst and then i get my periods and my cyst has gone by then (which I checked through pelvic ultrasound, whether my FSH will be higher on D3 because of the earlier cyst which got disolved in the periods.
and what is the normal range of FSH and LH on day 3. Whether it should be 1:1 proporation on day 3.
and whether the duoluton L tablet should be taken if FSH or LH (any one of them shows more). Is the tablet same for both.
and is there any side effect of this duoluton tablet. As my doctor has asked me to take for 03 months. If suppose my hormones are normal, if taking this duoluton tablet for 03 months will make it abnormal or its OK to take this tablet for a safer side. I am really very much confused.

Duoluton L is a birth control pill. I am not sure why your doctor has ordered it other than to make your periods regular. If you have a history of forming ovarian cysts. then we will use the birth control pill to suppress the ovaries and thereby suppress the cyst formation. If you have irregular cycles because of PCO, then the birth control pill is used to make your cycles regular and give you the hormones that you need.
The hormones FSH and LH are the hormones the brain produces to stimulate the ovary. They will be abnormal if you are on the birth control pill because it will suppress FSH and LH production (that is how it works to suppress the ovaries). FSH and LH should only be checked on cycle day # 2 or 3 of a natural cycle.
