QuestionI am a 25 year old female who is having issues with extreme fatigue, weight gain, pain during and after intercourse, and I no longer have any control over my body temperature or when my body decides that it is time to start crying.
I had some labs done at the pain management clinic where I work but the doctor I work for seems to busy to be bothered by the results.
My Estradiol was around 24, and my Cortisol was just over 40.
I am just looking for some advice on what this could be and what kind of specialist I should see.
AnswerHello Rebecca from the U.S.,
At this point, I would recommend that you go see an endocrinologist. Neither of the tests you cite are abnormal, but the cortisol level actually has to be checked in a certain way, not just a random draw. Your endocrinologist can check all your hormone levels and see what is going on. It sounds like it could be a thyroid problem. In terms of the pelvic pain, that is a different issue. I would see a gynecologist for that problem. I would not rely on the gynecologist for the fatigue, weight gain, emotional lability and body temperature. That is out of their field.
