High Homocysteine & Methymalonic Acid: Understanding Your Levels & Treatment Options

Question
Have high homocysteine at +11.6 and slightly high Methymalonic Acid at 338.   Dr. says take vitamin B12.  I take daily IPP so no stomach acid.  Computer seems to say take Methylvitamin B12,   B6   and   Folic Acid.  Or does that relate to Methymalonic Acid results?   I will be most grateful for advice on best treatment ....

Answer
IPP means PPI?  You absorb B12 thru a protein that carries it across your small intestine.  You can only absorb so much thru there.  Before lifelong B12, I would get a vitamin B12 level... if normal, no need.  If it is low, you need to supplement it thru a nasal spray or injections.

You should be on Vitamin D3 supplements (at least 2000 IU per day)  and Folic acid (or folate) 1 mg daily.  Those are both cheap and easy in the vitamin section.
