Curling Iron on Wet Hair: Risks & How to Properly Use

Your hair *must* be completely dry when using a curling iron.

Using a curling iron on wet or even damp hair is extremely damaging. The water heats up rapidly and essentially steams your hair from the inside out, causing:

* Severe damage: Hair becomes brittle, weak, and prone to breakage.

* Burning: The high heat can burn your hair and scalp.

* Uneven curls: Water interferes with the curling process, leading to inconsistent and frizzy results.

* Sizzling sound: If you hear a sizzling sound, it's a sign that there is still water in your hair. Stop immediately.

Always make sure your hair is 100% dry before using any hot styling tool, including curling irons, flat irons, and curling wands. Use heat protectant for an additional layer of protection.
