Tanning Lotion on Hair: Risks & Damage Explained

You should absolutely not put tanning lotion in your hair.

Here's why:

* It's not designed for hair: Tanning lotion is formulated for skin, not hair. It contains ingredients that can be harsh and damaging to your hair, leading to dryness, breakage, and even discoloration.

* It can clog your scalp: Tanning lotions often have oils and chemicals that can build up on your scalp, blocking pores and potentially causing irritation or even infection.

* It might stain your hair: Some tanning lotions contain dyes that could stain your hair, especially if it's light-colored.

If you want to add color to your hair, use a product specifically designed for hair coloring.

If you've accidentally put tanning lotion in your hair, wash it out thoroughly with shampoo and conditioner. If you notice any irritation, contact a dermatologist.
