Will Straightening Hinder Curling? Understanding Hair Styling Order

It's unlikely that hair will curl if straightened right before curling using a flat iron. Here's why:

* Flat ironing aims to straighten hair: The heat and pressure of a flat iron are designed to remove existing curls and create a straight look.

* Curling irons work on unstraightened hair: Curling irons work by wrapping hair around a heated barrel, creating a curl. This is best achieved on hair that hasn't been previously straightened.

However, there might be a few exceptions:

* Certain hair types: Extremely fine or damaged hair might hold a temporary curl even after being straightened.

* Styling products: Using a strong holding hairspray or styling cream after straightening might help the curls stay in place for a short time.

In general, it's recommended to curl your hair before straightening if you want to maintain the curl. Straightening after curling will likely flatten the curls.

If you want to achieve a specific look that involves both straightening and curling, you might need to use different sections of your hair, alternating between flat ironing and curling.
