Haircut for Thinning Dark Hair: How Short Should You Go?

When a guy is balding and needs to cut or shave his hair to suit does a guy with darker hair typically need to go shorter to make it look ok? My cousin for whatever reason seemed to think I should go less short because my hair is darker.

 There is really no hard and fast rule about this. It's all just a matter of how you feel you look best. I would suggest going shorter a little at a time to find the length you are most comfortable with and feel looks best on you. That's really the best that I can advise on this.
