Hair Dye After Hairspray: What You Need to Know

It's generally not recommended to color your hair after using hairspray. Here's why:

* Barrier: Hairspray creates a barrier on your hair shaft that can prevent the hair dye from penetrating properly. This can result in uneven color, patchy results, or the color not taking at all.

* Chemical Reactions: The chemicals in hairspray can potentially react with the chemicals in hair dye, leading to unexpected and potentially damaging results.

* Irritation: The combination of chemicals from both products might increase the risk of scalp irritation or allergic reactions.

What to do instead:

1. Wash your hair: Thoroughly wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo to remove all traces of hairspray and other styling products.

2. Dry your hair: Make sure your hair is completely dry before applying hair dye, unless the dye instructions specifically state otherwise.

3. Follow dye instructions: Always follow the instructions provided with your hair dye kit carefully.

By cleaning your hair and following the instructions, you'll have a much better chance of achieving the desired color results and minimizing potential damage.
