DIY Face Masks: Achieve Radiant Skin Naturally

Beauty is Skin Deep! We must take care of our skin. There is no other substitute.

Healthy and glowing complexion needs no embellishments. In fact, the first thing one observes is healthy and flawless skin.

Whatever may your skin type be, you need to follow a beauty regimen to maintain its vitality and suppleness. It’s best to adopt an herbal or DIY routine rather than using any chemical treatment.

Your skin type, age and needs determine what kind of a pack you need. And this is where a multitude of options and conditions come in!

Few Tips for Getting The Best Face Pack Results:

We can apply any product but to reap the maximum benefits we need to look at the following tips:

  • Identify your skin type. You skin can be dry, oily, normal, combination or sensitive. You need to apply different masks to achieve the best results:
    • Use a banana and honey mask for dry skin as they are moisturising.
    • Opt for a mask with apple cider vinegar for oily skin. Lemon is also good for this skin type.
    • You can make a mask of peach and sour cream for combination skin.
  • Always start with cleansed face. Use cleansing milk for a clear skin, or clean your face with a cotton ball dipped in raw milk. This will remove all impurities from the skin.
  • Scrub: before applying a pack, you may gently scrub your face to remove dead skin from the surface and reveal fresh skin. Also, all whiteheads and blackheads should be removed.
    • You can also use baking soda as an exfoliant.
    • Ensure that your mask also includes some exfoliating ingredient like oatmeal.
    • You can make a sugar scrub by mixing sugar with olive oil.
    • The consistency of the pack should be such that it neither like toothpaste (i.e. very thick) or runny! It should glide on your skin smoothly, and not drip from the face.
    • Use a good quality facial brush to apply the mask in upward strokes. Avoid pulling on your skin. Try to use your fingers to dot the mask around the eyes
    • A face pack should ideally be left on the face for 15-20 minutes, until it is dry. While the pack is on the face, avoid facial expressions, so that the layer of the pack does not break. Try and relax while the pack is on the face!
  • Once the pack is dry, or it has been on the face for 15-20 minutes, wash it off with cold water. You can also try a combination of lukewarm water followed by cold water. This will seal the pores to ensure less dirt and grime build-up
  • Pat dry the skin with a towel. Do not try and vigorously scrub your skin with a towel. Invest in a good quality towel which is soft and clean
  • Apply some rose water on the face, to tone the skin. You can also use a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water to tone the skin
  • Apply your favourite moisturiser to seal in the benefits derived from the pack. Try and massage the cream onto your skin for a minimum of 5 minutes. Ensure that your hands and fingernails are clean to avoid any infections.
  • Don’t forget your sunscreen .You can also get light coverage by using SPF enriched foundations.
