Fix-A-Flat & Nail: Should You Remove It First? - Tire Repair Advice

You should absolutely not take the nail out before using Fix-A-Flat.

Here's why:

* Fix-A-Flat relies on the puncture to work. It's designed to seal the hole from the inside out. Removing the nail would leave a larger opening that Fix-A-Flat might not be able to seal properly.

* It can be dangerous to remove the nail. You could damage the tire or rim if you try to remove the nail without the proper tools and experience.

What to do instead:

1. Read the Fix-A-Flat instructions carefully. Follow them exactly.

2. Park on a firm, level surface.

3. Make sure the tire is deflated.

4. Shake the can well.

5. Insert the Fix-A-Flat nozzle into the valve stem. Follow the instructions on the can for how long to hold the nozzle in place.

6. Drive slowly for a few miles to allow the sealant to set.

7. Have the tire professionally inspected and repaired as soon as possible.

Important Note: Fix-A-Flat is a temporary solution. It's not a permanent repair and should not be used as a substitute for a proper tire patch or replacement.
