Lace Manicure Tutorial: Create Stunning Nail Designs
It’s time to relinquish antiquated simple manicures and one-color nails. The world has already welcomed Minx styles, Calgel nails, and as soon as we spotted Lady Gaga‘s intricate nail design in her “Bad Romance” video, we knew that plain manicures were over, at least for now. With the lace trend cavorting down the runways, a transition from clothes to nail design was a necessity. Celebrity manicurist Elle for Barielle recognised the need to share her nail wealth with lace fans all over.
So read ahead and wrap up your nail art with a trendy, unique lace for the holidays.
Dress up your nails with lace with following DIY steps:
Lace Manicure DIY Ingredients:
- Strips of Lace From A Ribbon Spool
- Essie Ridge Filling Base Coat or any other Base Coat
- Base Colour from Zoya Jacquele Nude Neutral Nail Polish
- Non-Permanent Glue
- Umbrella Oxygen Raincoat Top Coat
- Toothpick
- Wax Paper
- Acetone
- Cotton swabs
Steps Included in Lace Nail Design:
- To recreate this lacey nail art, first prepare your nails by moisturising and buffing them and then apply a good base coat, like Essie Ridge Filling Base Coat. Next paint your nails with a base colour; I applied Zoya Nail Polish Jacquele Nude Neutral Nail Polish. You can opt for a darker shade but if you want to contrast well with the colour of your lace stick to a lighter shade.
- Now comes the most interesting part. Holdthe black lace over your nail and with a pair of stationery scissors (well, I used eyebrow scissors), cut the lace to your nail size. Relatively to the length of your nails you can opt for slightly shorter lace –one of the major rule to be followed the length should not extend beyond your nail size; elsethere are chances for it to not adhere well.
- Take a wax paper and along with a small piece of lace hold it on your nails. Next, use a toothpick and coat the back side of the lace. Now place this lace on your nail andpress the sides down with the same toothpick. For an immediate grip use Bostick, this also allows you to reposition the lace before the glue dries. Repeat this trim and glue method for your remaining nails as well.
- Once done, use a cotton swab dipped in acetone to clean the colour off your fingers. I have used ULTA Maximum Strength 100% Pure Acetone Nail Polish
- Finish the remaining manicure steps with a couple of other applications, like a very thick and clear top coat which will help you seal the edges and the result, will be a smooth-to-touch nails. I have used, Umbrella Oxygen Raincoat Top Coat as it has a UV filter too – perfect for my nails while I’m hitting a beach or going out for a lunch
- And once you are finally done with the nail art and are planning to remove it, just soak your nails in a nail remover for about 30-60 seconds.
- So, here you have the edgy lacey nail print in its final form.
