The right choice and the correct application of your foundation can totally change the aspect of your complexion. Check out these common mistakes to avoid when applying foundation in order to obtain a flawless, natural-looking, smooth and fresh complexion!
Mirror, mirror! We girls spend so much time getting ready and
trying to look impeccable. Foundation, concealer, highlighter,
powder, blush, eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner, lipstick, makeup application is a long,
difficult process that requires not just dexterity but also the
right products for your skin type and color. In order to flawlessly
cover skin imperfections it's important to take into consideration
a few tips and tricks so you can enhance your most beautiful
features.
Foundation plays an essential part in your makeup routine and if
applied correctly it should add a fresh touch to your look. Its
proper application camouflages all the unwanted flaws.
Unfortunately, there are a few common mistakes we make when
applying foundation and which should be avoided if want to prevent
the mask effect and obtain a perfect, natural-looking complexion.
Moreover, bad foundation increases the appearance of wrinkles.
First of all, preparing your face for makeup is crucial. Clean, tone, moisturize! Exfoliating is recommended for those of you who deal with flaky skin. Moisturizing is important as it makes your makeup last longer.
Wrong color
When it comes to foundation, discretion and transparency are
essential. Still, the most important mistake we usually make is
choosing the wrong color. This way, whether we pick a too dark
shade or a too light one, the foundation becomes our worst enemy as
it only gives an unnatural and unhealthy touch. Consequently, you
should find a natural light source and apply foundation to your
jawline. This should blend impeccably and match your natural
complexion.
Also, check out the undertone and remember that a foundation with
yellow undertones goes well with almost all complexions, unlike
those with pinkish ones.
Wrong texture
Liquid, stick, powder, oil-free, keep in mind that a foundation
having the texture opposed to your skin type should,
paradoxically, work great. Therefore, if your skin is dry and
dehydrated, you need a liquid foundation with a rather oily texture
and added moisturizers. On the contrary, if your skin is oily and
prone to breakouts, your foundation should be light, matte and
noncomedogenic.
Also, if you have dry skin, you might also want to stay away from
powder foundations as they may make your skin drier. If you have
mature skin, a matte finish may settle into fine wrinkles.
Failing to blend
Well, once we have found the perfect color and texture, now it's time for application. Don't forget that failure to properly blend your foundation can lead to a total disaster. Just imagine that terrible line at the jaw! So, always blend well and go all the way to your neck, just underneath the jaw, next to your hairline, ears, and cheeks.
Applying too much foundation
This is one of the most common faux pas women make when applying foundation. Before you start the application, wait until your moisturizer sets in. What you are looking for is a fresh and smooth result. Avoid the caked-on effect using your foundation lightly. You don't have to apply it on the entire face if you don't need it to, but use it just on the parts that need coverage such as blemishes or redness.
