Lashes – long and intense, they add beauty to your eyes, and make them appear magical! Sadly, not all of us have the gift of naturally long and dramatic lashes. Worry not, for, as they say, there’s nothing a bit of makeup can’t conjure! But sometimes no matter how many coats of mascara you apply on your lashes, they don’t appear full enough. When you’ve waited too long to get your hands on the perfect mascara wand, you turn to the next magical thing – false eyelashes, a.k.a. falsies.
For all the women out there who dream of long luscious eyelashes, there is no need to spend an hour on applying false lashes. We found out some simple tips and tricks which will make this process much easier and no one will guess if they are not real! (wink, wink)
For beginners try out the Strip False Eyelashes instead of individual lashes. They are easier to handle and apply. I have used both Stella Natural Prime false eyelashes and Sephora Collection False Eyelashes in Wink. And both are safe to wear on a regular basis.
Choose the eyelashes depending on what your eye shape is and the size you want. If you’re getting married, then don’t go for long eyelashes go for more natural ones. MAC number 7 is the most natural looking one. There are even individual lashes which are available for a natural look.
Before you go ahead and apply those falsies, you need to prep up the skin around your eyes. Tap some concealer along the inner and outer corners of your eyes, lash lines and over your eyelid. This helps in giving a proper base for the false lashes. Next, apply some mascara to your natural lashes so that the false lashes blend in better!
After choosing the eyelashes, the next step is to cut them with a small scissor to fit your natural lashline. Trimming them is fairly easy. Roughly place the false eyelash above your natural eyelash, and check for the size. If the size is slightly bigger than the natural eyelash, then you can go ahead and use them. But, if it is too big in size, use a fine pair of scissors and snip the extra length to fit your eyes perfectly. This step is crucial before gluing the eyelashes. If you’re not sure of how to cut them perfectly, hold the false eyelash strip against your eyelid and trim it carefully. The added benefit of trimming the individual false eyelashes is that it helps one to get a natural, beautiful look.
The application process is fairly easy. Pick the falsies with a tweezer and try not to pull them too much because they will stretch and move.
Squeeze a little bit of the glue on it. Once done, let the glue dry a little bit for 15 seconds – make sure it does not dry out totally. When I tried for the first time, there were a couple of tries to really get the lashes to stay. Just try blowing on the glue or gently wave the lash around in the air to speed this up. This is the best way to keep the strip from slipping around while you’re trying to line it up properly.
If you are worried about the black glue being goopy or clumpy, don’t worry. It perfectly blends in smoothly with your eyeliner and mascara.
Now, simply plaster the eyelash in the middle of the lash line. Then tuck the eyelashes on the two ends and with your natural eyelashes and fingers, press your false eyelashes a bit.
To finish it off, apply a light swipe of mascara to blend the falsies naturally with the real ones.
The fake lashes are equally easy to remove. Just dip a cotton pad into eye makeup remover and pat it on your lashes. Wait for some time, and start pulling your falsies slowly and softly.
Voilà! Your eyelashes now look as beautiful as you want them to. And now that you know how to wear false eyelashes, get your glam on and step out! Do let us know how you like them, in the comment box below!
