Mastering Kajal Application: A Step-by-Step Guide for Stunning Eyes

It is rightly said that eyes can speak volumes. Good eye makeup always enhances the beauty of your eyes. Kajal, also known as kohl, is one product that can transform the way you look. Be it a simple on-the-go look or something more elaborate like party makeup, who doesn’t love giving the eyes their due in the limelight? After all, they are the first things that grab attention.

How To Select A Kajal

Since a lot of women rely on kajal, it is really important to select the one that suits your needs. You can choose amongst smudge-proof, waterproof, and water-resistant kajal. Avoid using eye pencils that have shine or glitter in them as they can be harmful for your eyes. You can wear kajal as an eyeliner, an eyeshadow, or use it to create a glam smokey eye look.

You Will Need

  • Kajal/kohl pencil
  • Smudging brush
  • Mascara
  • Eyeliner

Before you begin, clean the area under the eye as well as the eyelashes with a makeup remover or a cleanser thoroughly. For people with dry skin, moisturize the eye area well, and dab on some loose/pressed powder. This prevents creases on the eyes.

Step 1

Apply the kajal on the lower eyelid to make the waterline prominent.

Step 2

Take a sharp kajal pencil. Start lining from the outer corner of the eye and then fill it towards the inner corner. This helps in eliminating the chances of excess product being deposited in the inner corner.

Apply generous coats of the kajal depending on how you like it. If you have small eyes, apply the kajal more on the outer corner. This opens up the eyes.

Step 3

If you wish to create a subtle smoky eye look, apply a thick layer of kajal on the lower rim of your eye and smudge it gently with a smudging brush.

For an elaborate smoky eye, you can apply layers of kajal and repeat the process of smudging.

Step 4

Apply the kajal on the rim of the upper lid. This creates an illusion of wearing an eyeliner and opens up the eyes more.

Step 5

Use your kajal as an eyeliner to create a more defined look. Start by applying the kajal on the upper eyelid by closing the eyes. Draw a soft line from the outer corner to the inner corner of the eye. Use shorter strokes for better application, and then, gradually thicken it.

A quick and easy way to intensify the kajal to make it stay creaseproof for longer hours is by using an eyeshadow of the same color as your kajal. Apply it over the kajal with an applicator brush and seal it.
Wear loads and loads of mascara for the perfect finish.

Final Look

For occasions like weddings, cocktail parties, etc. you can amp up your look by using different colored eye pencils. You can also use false lashes to add more glamor.
