Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation Review: Coverage & Performance

If you haven’t come across a cushion foundation yet, the theory is that the foundation is soaked into a sponge in a compact. You apply with a puff. The coverage tends to be light and dewy and includes the added bonus of high SPF. It’s like a BB cream in a compact.

Lancôme has launched their new Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation this year. It appealed to me because of it’s high coverage and long last claims. Heres what Lancôme says about it-

I’m not so into light dewy coverage myself so this sounds more up my alley than most other cushion foundations I’ve come across.

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation Review: Coverage & PerformanceTeint Idole Ultra Cushion comes in a rather nice gold and black compact. The puff sits on top in a little compartment with a mirror and the cushion is underneath. I love the compactness of it. Everything you need to do your foundation is right there. If you travel around a lot this would be just the thing.

You get 15g of product in the cushion, a normal bottle of foundation has 30ml, so that’s about half the normal amount. Teint Idole ultra cushion costs £30, so you’re getting a lot less foundation for your money. But, a little does go a long way and you’re getting a very cool compact. You can also buy refills for £19.

The foundation itself goes on beautifully. You don’t need much at all to get a good face full. Just a couple of swipes of the puff on the cushion and blend away. The Lancôme counter bird said to use the puff, but I can’t see why you shouldn’t be able to use your favourite brush. Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation Review: Coverage & PerformanceI got shade 015 Ivoire, a light cool shade. A jaw line swatch looked perfect, but I do find that it oxidises on blending. You can see it in the picture above. So maybe err on the side of caution when your choosing a shade and go light.

The finish is satin, it has a bit of glow to it. It lasts well. I wore it out and several hours it was still there, I’m oily though so I was pretty shiny after a while.

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation Overview

I’ll admit I am struggling a bit with the shade, it goes a bit orange on me. Other than that the foundation is good, excellent natural coverage. The packaging and cushion delivery system is lovely, so easy to use and portable. Here is the round up-

Pros-

  • Lovely packaging
  • Convenience- The cushion makes foundation application a breeze
  • SPF50
  • It gives much better coverage than most other cushion foundations on the market

Cons-

  • Teint Idole Ultra is expensive at £30 for 15g
  • It oxidises to a darker shade than you originally chose
  • I’ve got an issue with the cleanliness of cushion foundations, best to use them up quickly, I imagine that sponge getting manky if it’s sitting in a warm bedroom for months

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra is pricey but nicey. Available from Lancôme. Lancôme also do cushion blushers, Grenadine looked particularly juicy. Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation Review: Coverage & Performance
