Wilko Essence False Lash Effect Mascara: Is It Worth the Hype?

It may be better-known for its budget sweets and thrifty homewear but beauty buffs are filling their makeup bags at Wilko.

Indeed, makeup fans are going wild for Wilko's Essence False Lash Effect Mascara Princess, which costs just £3.30 at the budget store.

Shoppers are so impressed with the mascara that they've awarded it a five-star rating on the brand's website.

As well as this, Redditors have been going wild for the mascara, posting before and after selfies showing the amazing results, like this one from Crow_Rufio_Crow.

The brand promises that their purse-friendly mascara will help you 'unleash your inner princess'.

It apparently works thanks to a special, conic shape of the fibre brush, which provides lashes with length, dramatic volume and a false- lash effect.

One Redditor described the mascara as 'the best ever', while beauty blogger Anwen called it her 'favourite, and Beth Louise Makeup hailed it a 'real contender' for best mascara.

Giving a review of the mascara online, one shopper said: 'I have teeny eyelashes but this made them look gigantular after just one application and my daughter even asked if I was wearing false lashes so I'd say it does the trick. Well worth the money.'

The only bad news for beauty buffs on a budget is that the popular mascara is so in demand that it's out of stock.
