Types of Artificial Curls: Perms, Waves & Styling Techniques

Artificially curly hair, meaning hair that wasn't naturally curly but has been made curly through styling, can be called a few different things, depending on the method used and the desired effect:

* Curled Hair: This is the most general and straightforward term.

* Permed Hair: If the curls are created through a chemical process (a permanent wave), then it is referred to as permed hair.

* Styled Curls/Waves: For curls created using heat tools (curling irons, wands, etc.), rollers, or braiding techniques, "styled curls" or "styled waves" is a fitting description.

* Crimped Hair: A specific type of artificially curly hair made with a crimping iron.

* Waved Hair: If the hair is artificially styled to have a wave pattern rather than tight curls.

* Set Hair: This term refers to hair that has been styled and then kept in place with rollers, pins, or other methods to achieve a particular curl or wave pattern.
