Natural Hair Styling: 5 DIY Recipes for Healthy, Gorgeous Hair

Heat treatment and chemicals aren’t the only way to style.

Helplessness sets in when you know that you are damaging your hair but can’t help it. There isn’t another choice. What if we told you that isn’t true?

How To Style Your Hair at Home:

There still are recipes which with little time and money can help you get the same look and style minus the damage to the hair. The following are some simple DIYS to style your hair naturally at home.

1. Flax Seed Hair gel:

Take 2 big teaspoons of Flax seed and one cup of water. Bring both to a boil for 10 minutes and immediately strain it and keep in an airtight container. Do Not Boil For More Than 10 Minutes. It has a great shelf life of up to 1 month, if you keep it refrigerated. You will be surprised at the effectiveness of this gel.

2. Lemon Hairspray:

While using commercial hairsprays, you need a few rounds of spraying and this gets you worried about how it might be adversely affecting your hair, right? But if the spray is from an all-natural source and smells amazing, you will not give a second thought about having to do multiple rounds of spraying.

What to do:

Take the juice out of one big lemon (about 1 full cup) and boil it with 1 and half cups of water for 2 minutes. Then, let it simmer it for another 10 minutes on low flame. Get the concoction of the heat and keep aside. Strain if required. Pour this into a spraying bottle (new, cleaned and dried) you can refrigerate it and use for about 2 weeks. The amount of product to be used depends on the thickness of the hair. Thicker hair requires more rounds of generous spraying. This product gives the hair a shiny look and amazing smell.

3. Moisturizing Hair Mist:

Nobody wants dry hair that looks parched and in dire need of some deep conditioning. But if you do not have the time to deep condition your hair? This is where a hair mist comes into action. The following concoction can help your hair look more moisturized and refreshed in a jiffy.

What to do:

Take 100ml rose water,200ml Aloe Vera juice, and around 5 drops of jojoba oil (you can also use lavender or sweet almond oil). Take all of the mentioned ingredients in the correct amount and pour into a spraying bottle. Put the cap on and shake it up well. You are ready to spritz away. Make sure to shake the bottle before using every time. This is because the oil tends to separate when it sits.

4. Frizz Control Gel:

What to do:

Boil 1 tea spoon of gelatin in one cup of water. Keep it on the heat till the desired consistency is achieved. It should be thick and gel like, but not too heavy. Once you get it off the heat, you can pour it into a tub like container and store it in a cool place. It essentially works by weighing down your hair and keeps frizz and flyaway at bay. It is relatively odorless.

5. Hair Combing and Smoothness Serum:

What to do:

Take one tea spoon essential oil, preferably chamomile oil (this is only optional for those who do not despise the smell of coconut oil), 4 teaspoon of coconut oil and 2 teaspoon of pure Aloe Vera gel from any good brand. In a mixer grinder or with a hand blender mix them thoroughly. Pour this into an old bottle of any hair serum, or any bottle with a long neck. You can use this on your hair when you want to comb them out easily and have a glossy appearance even without shampooing. This has a shelf life of about 2 months or more, if refrigerated.

Although these home hair styling products may not be equally effective as their chemical counterparts, they do a fine job of giving results. They all will last for a fair amount of time when store in a closed bottle and refrigerated.
