* Wait 24-72 hours: Give the color time to set before washing your hair.
* Cold Water: Rinse with cold water. Hot water opens the hair cuticle, which can cause the Kool-Aid dye to fade faster.
* Sulfate-Free Shampoo (optional): If you choose to use shampoo, use a sulfate-free option. Sulfates can strip the color from your hair. However, depending on your hair type, you may be able to simply co-wash (see next point).
* Co-wash: Use a silicone-free hair conditioner to wash your hair.
* Avoid Frequent Washing: Wash your hair as infrequently as possible to maintain the color.
* Color-Depositing Conditioner: Consider using a color-depositing conditioner in a similar shade to your Kool-Aid dye to help refresh the color each time you wash.
Important Note: Kool-Aid dye is semi-permanent and will fade over time. These tips will help extend the color, but it will eventually wash out.
