Symptoms of Dandruff:

How do you know whether you have dandruff? Look for these signs:

  • Dry white flakes of dead skin found on hair and shoulders.
  • Oily and yellow scales of dead skin which often remain on the scalp.
  • Itchy scalp.
  • Redness and warmth on the scalp.
  • Bleeding from constantly scratching and picking at the scalp.

Look at your scalp closely for red and dry patches of skin or tiny yellow clumps of dead skin. Scratch your scalp gently to see if you have any dry and white flakes appear or fall out. Another effective test to check dandruff is to take a shower and wash the hair with a regular shampoo. After the shower, comb the hair and look at the scalp. If there are any traces of white flakes on your scalp, then you have dandruff. Generally, those who don’t have dandruff wash off excess dead skin cells while shampooing.
