Stylish Maternity Swimsuits: One-Piece vs. Two-Piece Options

Maternity clothing is a necessity for most women who have become pregnant. Their body's natural expanding for their child within simply doesn't permit their normal clothes after only a few months. By the time they've reached their advanced stages, their old clothes probably don't fit at all. As such, maternity clothing provides a safe refuge of elasticity and larger sizes to account for the growing bulge. Maternity swimsuits in particular have grown into quality clothing for those who wish to keep their life on track by continuing their activities and exercise. They come in two types, one-pieces and two-pieces, both of which provides different advantages and disadvantages.

One-Piece Swimsuits

For those a little more self-conscious about their growing bulge, the one-piece provides good coverage and can be rather comfortable. When choosing colors, go with summery or bright colors for a happier and cheerier look. To look slimmer and reduce the effect of the bulge, consider black. For those at a more advanced stage of pregnancy, you should seek out some support in your swimsuit, such as a halter. Sports-back swimsuits are specifically designed for those who are expecting children and should be sought out first.

Two-Piece

Much of the previous advice holds true here. However, two-pieces are focused primarily towards those who don't feel as self-conscious about their growing bulge. It might not provide some of the same support-opens as the one-piece, but can be more comfortable in some cases. This is especially so if you're wearing the swimsuit to relax on a beach before swimming or after swimming, as you can shake off the sometimes clingy material of a one-piece.

An increasingly popular style amongst pregnant women is the tankini, which replaces the bra-style top of a two-piece with a vest top. It's a good combination of coverage and comfort, allowing for somewhat of a mix. Furthermore, it can provide the support that the one-piece provides, but in a two-piece set, allowing for versatility for those with the growing stomach. Learn more about awesome maternity swimsuits.
