Whether the salt is on your car windows or the windows in your home, or whether it comes from the city salting the roads in the winter or from sea water spray at your beach house, salt residue is a challenge to remove and prevent on windows. With a few tips and the proper homemade solution, you can easily remove the salt from your windows as well as prevent its return.
Mix, in the spray bottle, a solution of 4 tbsp ammonia, 2 tbsp vinegar and 1 qt warm water.
Spray the solution onto the salt affected windows.
Wait a minute or so to allow the solution to break up any residue.
Wipe with rags, or squeegee the window until it is clean and dry.
Apply a film of Rain-X to prevent water from staying on the windows long enough to evaporate, leaving the salt behind. Also, if the salt does return, the Rain-X will make it far simpler to remove the next time.
