USPS Mail Forwarding: Verify Your Address Change Online

When you move, it is important to give your new address to everyone who might send you mail. The United States Post Office offers automatic mail forwarding for one year after your move to ensure that any mail sent to your old address still finds you. If you are expecting a letter that has not arrived, you can check on the USPS website to make sure that your mail is still being forwarded.

  • Launch an Internet browser and go to the USPS website.

  • Click "Household" in the menu at the top of the screen, then click "Change Your Address Online."

  • Click "view, update or cancel a Change of Address order" beneath the orange arrow.

  • Enter your new zip code and the confirmation code that was issued when you originally set up your mail forwarding.

  • Click "Submit." The site will tell you the status of your mail forwarding.
