KitchenAid has been a manufacturer of kitchen appliances since 1919. Among the appliances the company manufactures are coffee makers. KitchenAid coffee makers come in a variety of models and styles and, like all coffee makers, they should be cleaned regularly. Cleaning coffee makers is an important part of brewing a good pot of coffee. Mineral deposits and other grime build up in your coffee maker. Cleaning will eliminate these deposits, helping to ensure a good pot of coffee every time.
Discard old coffee from the carafe. Rinse with plain water.
Wash the carafe with warm, soapy water and a rag. Rinse well with plain water.
Rinse out the filter basket with plain water.
Dry the carafe and filter basket before returning them to the coffee maker.
Fill the sink half full with warm water. Add about 4 tbsp. baking soda to the water.
Place the carafe into the water. If there is a plastic lid attached to the carafe, remove it.
Wash the carafe with a rag. Wipe down the filter basket, burner and exterior of the coffee maker with a rag and the water from the sink.
Rinse the carafe with plain water. Wipe down the filter basket, burner and the rest of the coffee maker with a rag and plain water.
Dry the carafe and entire coffee pot with a clean rag.
Pour equal parts vinegar and water into the coffee carafe. Pour the mixture into the water reservoir of the coffee maker.
Run a complete brew cycle on the coffee maker. If your KitchenAid coffee maker has a cleaning indicator light (a light letting you know the coffee maker needs to be cleaned), run subsequent brew cycles with a fresh batch of the vinegar-and-water solution until the indicator light goes off. If your coffee maker has a lot of buildup, more than one cycle will be required.
Run two complete brew cycles using plain, cool water to remove any traces of the vinegar, as well as any left-behind buildup.
Wash the filter basket in the sink with hot soapy water. Rinse the basket with hot water and dry thoroughly.
