Whether you're a novice or seasoned cook, an interruption can divert your attention, and within minutes you could have food burned steadfast to your pan. Now, you not only have nothing to eat but a pan to scrub. Rather than standing at the sink and toiling over cleaning the pan, try an alternative method that cleans away the burned food with hardly any effort on your part.
Add a small amount of dish detergent and 1/2 inch of water to the pan.
Place the pan on the oven burner and heat until boiling. Turn off the burner and allow the water to cool.
Remove the pan and wash as normal.
Place a stopper into the sink and run enough hot water to cover the pan.
Add 2 tbsp. of baking soda for each 1 qt. of water.
Allow the pan to soak until the burned food is easily removed. Make a paste of baking soda and rub onto the food for stubborn burns.
Fill the pan with enough hot water to cover the food.
Add 4 tbsp. of salt to the water.
Allow the pan to soak for two hours and wash as normal.
