Remove Gasoline Odor from Washing Machine: A Simple Guide

Washing gasoline soaked clothing in your washing machine will leave you with a washer that reeks of fuel. The odors from the washing machine can transfer to other clothing that you subsequently place inside the washer, and can also fill your home with a gasoline smell. Fortunately, removing the odors is a relatively simple process.

Things You'll Need

  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Container
  • Baking soda
  • Fill a container with 2 cups of distilled white vinegar.

  • Add ½ cup baking soda to the vinegar and mix thoroughly. Vinegar and baking soda are natural deodorizers that remove odors without using harsh chemicals.

  • Set your washing machine to the hottest setting and allow the drum to begin to fill with water.

  • Add the vinegar-baking soda to the washing machine. Shut the lid and allow the washer to run through a complete cycle.

  • Repeat the process until the gasoline smell is gone.
