An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Well, a cup of apple tea a day is even better! One small apple contains around 73 units of vitamin A and 159 mg of potassium. You can reap the benefits of these nutrients when you consume apple in the form of a tea. Is apple tea good for you? And the answer is yes. It is known for its pleasant taste and amazing health benefits.
Apple tea is a drink, which is prepared by using apple-flavoured black tea. It is widely consumed in Turkey. They enjoy it as a part of their daily meals. Apple tea includes several antioxidants like catechin and quercetin. It also contains minerals like magnesium, sodium and potassium. Amino acids and vitamins B, C and E are also found in abundance in apples. This tea comes in two varieties – koyu, which means dark or strong, and açık, meaning light or weak.
So, apple tea is good for us. Let’s now learn the methods of brewing a cup of apple tea:
Step 1: Fill a saucepan with 2L of water. Now, boil the water.
Step 2: Wash the apple and cut it into 1 inch-by-1 inch pieces. Remove the stem and the seeds but do not remove the skin of the apple.
Step 3: Add the apple pieces to the boiling water and cook it for roughly 5 to 7 minutes.
Step 4: Now, add the cloves and cinnamon to the boiling water. Leave it boiling for another 5-10 minutes.
Step 5: Strain the apple mixture through a colander and add it to a pitcher.
Step 6: Add sugar and stir well. To give it a healthier twist, replace sugar with honey.
Step 7: After refrigerating for a while, pour the freshly made tea into the glasses filled with ice cubes.
Step 8: Garnish with apples slices. You can refrigerate apple tea for up to 3 days.
