I heard that to get the most out of almonds, peanuts, etc. you have to combine it with a food group. I think it's the bread, but I'm not sure.

So, to get all the nutrients from nuts, what do you have to combine it with?

Hi Helene,

That's a new one on me! The only thing I can think of is that to get the maximum iron absorbtion from nuts (or any iron rich food), you should combine it with a good source of vitamin C (such as orange juice, tomato sauce or sweet peppers). This is something I suggest to people who have low iron levels, but it's not generally necessary if you don't have iron deficiency issues. Other than that, there's no reason to combine nuts with any food in particular.
