Gastric Sleeve Surgery After Hiatal Hernia Repair: What You Need to Know

I visited a Bariatric Surgeon recently as I want to have the Vertical Gastric Sleeve Operation done. I have a BMI of 43. I have had hatial hernia surgery five years ago and the surgeon informed me the sleeve surgery can therefore not be done. Is it possible to have the sleeve operation?

There are mixed opinions about this, but it is sometimes considered a contraindication to this procedure.

That said, some surgeons who have done more procedures or who perhaps have different approaches may be willing/able to perform this surgery for you.  You might go for a second opinion with a different surgeon to see if there is another option for you.
